At the end of April, my family and I went to the Christian Heritage Homeschool Conference in Redmond, WA. We left on Thursday evening to go to the megachurch where the conference was and to check out the vendors' booths. The Conference is about Christ with homeschooling tossed in. The church was so large it was unnatural you could fit two of our churches in the main sanctuary of the megachurch with room to spare. After our family went around and saw most of the booths, we loaded up and went to the B&B where we were staying. On Friday morning we got up and prepared for a full day of listening to multiple speakers.
The first thing we had to do was go to General Session A where Dr. Joel Beeke spoke about encouraging your children and stuff. We then had a forty minute break before our next workshop. How the Conference worked was there is one general session in the morning then we had three workshops throughout the day with breaks throughout. After a long day of listening to speakers, my family and I listened to the story of Vanya, a Russian soldier who is martyred for his faith. After that we listened to Paul Washer about how we should appreciate Jesus's sacrifice more.
Saturday we got up at 5:00am to go to the Father-Son breakfast, which was okay. Then we listened to more speakers on a variety of different subjects. But the end of the conference was close and everyone gathered in the main sanctuary to watch some homeschoolers perform. But Alas! We had to leave so we packed up started on the long road trip home.
I enjoyed the conference and would go again. I especially liked listening to Paul Taylor. He spoke about evolution. He use to be with Answers in Genesis but now he works with the Mt. St. Helens Creation Center.

At the end of April my family and I went to Redmond to participate in our first homeschool conference. The drive there went by pretty quick, in my mind at least. Once we hit the city, traffic was quite hectic; but we eventually got to the church where we got our name tags and so on. There wasn't a whole lot of people there since the conference was the next day. The church was huge! After we looked around a bit we headed to where we were staying. It was very comfortable and plus I slept on a bunk bed.
The next day we got up nice and early, ate breakfast, and headed over to the church. Once we got there, we looked around a bit and then headed to Auditorium A to listen to Dr. Joel Beeke. After listening to his sermon, we went to workshop A where I listened about history and the folly of man. After that we went around and checked out the vendor booths, which were numerous. There were so many people at the conference it wasn't hard to get lost. But after the workshops were all finished everybody proceeded to auditorium A where we listened to Paul Washer's sermon about the gospel, which was very good. When he finished we went back to the place we were staying and went to sleep.
The next morning we got up early so we could go to the men's breakfast where there was good food and a speaker. After our speaker finished, the day went like the previous day. One of the sessions we attended was called "Our Created Universe" by speaker Spike Psarris. It was very interesting. My favorite and most numbskulled theory that he mentioned was the "Floating Brain Theory", which is basically saying we are just a bunch of floating disembodied brains and what we are seeing is an illusion. After that odd note, I listened to Chuck Black then we went to the last session where we listened to more talented people and Paul Washer and Joel Beeke. Their sermons were very good. After prayer we loaded into the van and headed home. We got home around 9pm very satisfied and ready for church the next day.
