Shootin' & Fishin'

M Troop has had the flu most of the week. We recovered sufficiently to take advantage of the sunny Saturday our friends from the East sent us. It was almost 70 degrees outside!

First on our agenda was to load up the guns and head to the range.  Usually, our little range is full on such a sunny day.  When we arrived, there was a nice family of three generations (grandfather, father, and daughter) showing the granddaughter how to shoot for the first time.  It was really cute.  She liked grandpa's Ruger 10/22 the best.

After taking turns shooting the boy's Crickett, Tim's Marlin 925R, my Marlin 1894 lever, and my 9mm Camp Carbine, we headed to Clatskanie for some pizza at Fultano's.  Best pizza in the world.

We weren't done, yet.  We headed home, unloaded the guns and loaded the fishing gear.  Today, the City of Longview stocked Lake Sacajawea with 4,000 trout and had a youth fishing derby in the morning.  Now that the fishing derby was over, the fish have the run of the lake and any youth (under 15 years old) or adults with a fishing license can fish all they want.

Tim, Tom, Ben, and Joe tried their hand against the fish but didn't have any luck.  They had enough after about two hours.  I asked Ben why he looked unhappy, especially since he had been bugging me to take him fishing recently.  He said, "Fishing isn't fun.  Catching fish is."  Oh, well.  Better luck next time, boys.

We forgot the camera when we went to the gun range, but here are some pics of our doughty "fishermen".
